Why This Reference Exists
Printed Pomona resident directories faded from daily use, but the records beneath them remained in separate systems. Ownership clues sit with the Los Angeles County Assessor and Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. Registration status is handled through LA County election services under California law. Historical volumes sit with Pomona Public Library Special Collections, FamilySearch, digital repositories, and local historical institutions. A search for one household can therefore cross several offices and several kinds of evidence.
The goal is to make those differences plain. A parcel result is not a household roster, a court hit is not identity proof, and an old city directory is not a current address. The local pages keep the office names, search fields, coverage notes, access channels, and Pomona-specific caveats together.
What the Pages Point Toward
The references are arranged by the kind of question a Pomona researcher is asking, with each route leading back to the office or collection that holds the underlying material. Starting points include the Pomona City Clerk, the Los Angeles County Assessor, and the Pomona Public Library.
- Different research angles: the street directory follows address-keyed records, the city directory collection follows the historical shelf, and the resident lookup tests one person across official sources.
- Local offices: the Pomona City Clerk, LA County Assessor, RR/CC, Superior Court, elections office, vital-record desks, and library collections.
- Historical methods: how to read a directory entry, pair editions with census years, follow a deed chain, and use Sanborn or cemetery clues.
- Access boundaries: what the California Public Records Act opens, what Health and Safety Code copy classes restrict, and when Safe at Home protects an address.
What Cannot Be Promised
Pomona Residents Directory is privately operated. It is not connected to Pomona City Hall, Los Angeles County, California agencies, the courts, the library, or any records custodian. The Los Angeles Superior Court and the Historical Society of Pomona Valley remain independent custodians. The limits are practical as well as legal:
- No one here can confirm whether a named person currently lives in Pomona.
- No record can be pulled, certified, corrected, or removed on a reader's behalf.
- No person can be added to or removed from a government roll through these pages.
- No dispute about a record can receive legal advice from a directory reference.
- No promise can be made that a portal, fee, office hour, collection location, or coverage detail will remain unchanged.
Only the custodian can verify, certify, or correct its record. Material connected with these references must not be used for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
